THE EXPERIENCE

Our exclusive dhow cruises take you through the tranquil waters of Mida Creek, where mangroves, rich birdlife, and open skies create a sense of complete escape. All trips are fully catered, with locally prepared food and drinks served on board, allowing you to relax from the moment you step aboard. If requested, you are also welcome to experience the dhows uncatered.

Whether you choose a peaceful sunset sail, a private celebration, or a tailored experience, our crew will take care of every detail. For honeymoons, families, small groups, or other special occasions, we create sails that feel timeless, personal, and unforgettable.

Mida Creek is a protected marine reserve, home to migratory birds, turtles, and a remarkable diversity of life. As the tide shifts and the light softens, you’ll experience the creek at its most magical time.

ABOUT US

Mida Creek has always been a peaceful part of Watamu. A place of beauty, an ideal location to watch the sun set over the mangroves. It is one of Kenya’s most pristine marine reserves, and to us, it's a true jewel.

For centuries, traditional Swahili dhows have sailed these waters. Handcrafted wooden boats, shaped by wind, water, and history, they are as much a part of the creek as the mangroves themselves. Swahili Sails was created to honour this heritage while offering a refined way to experience this rich, old culture.

Our aim is simple: to share Mida Creek as we know it. Every sail embraces this authenticity, from the dhow itself to the people who crew it. Every experience is shaped to the wishes of our guests.
